I Got A Present

From my dearest friend Marla. I love everything about it. I got it a few days ago, but I have been a bit busy moving into my new/old apartment, so I really haven't had much time to post on the blog. But I want to share these pix. I am so happy for my little knitted fairy and I love that her name is "Cooling", as in my fave Tori song. Ever. Much love to Marla xx

Is a lovely childrens book, made by my lovely friend and fellow Toriphile, Samantha Hale. She is also the film-maker of the amazing Map The Music 1 and 2. I really hope to get around to buy the book, as I love the history and the drawings are stunning. Here is a little review on the book:

Losing a parent would be traumatic for a child of any age. Losing both could be devastating. Author Samantha Hale has written a heart wrenching story of eight year old Sparkle who tragically loses both parents and then is forced to live without the comfort of music when she goes stay with her aunt (her mother's sister). The innocence of being a child shines through the pages of the poignant short story. Sparkle is able to begin healing when she hears the music that naturally occurs around her. She follows the sounds into the nearby forest and finds magical musical instruments that were abandoned by her aunt out of grief for her lost sister. The story has a sweet ending and a simple life lesson that older children (9-11) will be able to easily understand. The illustrations are beautiful and even young children will be entertained at the thought of magical musical instruments.
